It’s been way too long …

There’s not much i can say about this other than, I’ve been very neglectful of posting anything.  What I will do is provide a bit more insight into what I’ve been up to over the past 2 years.
Things have changed quite a bit.  I’ve gone through a divorce, 3½ moves, a new job, a new girlfriend and learning the ins and outs of Southern California.  The divorce is now final.  It took 22 months to complete and continues to drain more dollars than I care to think about.  That being …

Well, I did it.  I’m now in LA.   So far, it’s worked out well.  I still have much to learn but I have received a very warm welcome with my new job.  A month in, I feel like I’m starting to get a hang of things.  The first 2 weeks I really felt like a deer in headlights.  I had a tough time juggling all of the new job responsibilities and I’m pretty sure I dropped every ball at least once.   In the third week I started to …

Consumer Electronics Show 2011

Well, I did it again.  I made the trek to Vegas and got back in one piece.  This is the second time that I’ve driven to Vegas and I’ve got to say it’s really not that bad.  The total time was about 8 hours each way and the entire trip was uneventful (other than the show itself which I will get to next).
I arrived in Vegas at 2pm on the first day of the show.  Turns out getting into the hotel parking lot took exactly 1 hour less than I …

NCSU snuffs UNC to stay in ACC Championship Race

I don’t normally write about sports, but I had to make an exception this week.  NC State used a couple of stellar plays only a minute apart from each other to take one from UNC 29-25.  It all started with a 2-yard Hail Mary pass from Russell Wilson that somehow found it’s way into Owen Spencer’s hands and ended with an end zone scrum that sent two players back to the locker room.  That was followed by a nice 3-and-out forced by NC States Defense and an 87-yard run to …

HTML5 iPhone App programming .. not so fun

So … Here I am a week later after having my DIRECTV Firmware Monitor app rejected by Apple (original story) and I’m even more frustrated now than I was before.  The cool thing about Xcode are the nice features built in to the development environment.  But when you get rejected by Apple for a “not very useful” application, you also get the advice to “consider building a web app using HTML5.”  This is a nice gesture, but it is also the point at witch Apple essentially says “Good Luck” and …
